Especially during practice rounds, there are plenty of tools a caddie carries in order to map out the course the best he or she can for his or her player. And, as basic as it might seem, it’s important for caddies to be as comfortable as possible in all kinds of conditions. With that, here’s a look at the most important tools of the trade for a caddie.

What are the most important tools of the trade for a caddie?

A caddie’s tools can range from the obvious — like a rangefinder and compass — to the not-so-obvious, like socks and underwear. When it’s 100 degrees out, you want the best underwear on the market to prevent chafing, which all caddies know is not fun — especially when you hit the showers.

Socks will prevent blisters when it’s hot or wet. A trip around the links is like going on a hike and everyone knows that blisters ruin your hike. Also, most caddies carry beer coasters during practice rounds to put on the greens for their players to putt to at the old hole locations.
