Welcome to the first installment of our 2022 “Caddie Confidential” series, with monthly, inside-the-ropes perspective from dozens of Tour caddies on rotating golf topics. First up: Caddies provide their insights on the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Investments and what it could mean if big-name players choose to play.

The Saudi-backed LIV Golf Investments is hoping — and has confidence — it will be able to land many of the game’s biggest names.

Without naming names, we polled nearly three dozen caddies to find our whether or not they believed their own player might take a crack at a new Tour and move away from the PGA Tour.

“I would hope so if the prize money has been accurately reported,” one caddie told us.

“I think a lot of older players would take the guaranteed money,” said another.

Without naming names, do you think your player would try his hand at that new tour?

Check out this selection of responses from caddies:

No.

My player has said he wouldn’t, and he’s a high profile player. But I know for fact some players (more than just some) are willing to jump ship and play in the breakaway league. Some big name guys, too.

I hope he does.

I do not think my guy would.

Possibly.

If invited… I hope so.

He’d be silly not to if the money is what they are saying.

Not now but maybe in 6-10 years.

Anyone who wants to guarantee their financial future should!
