Welcome to the third installment of our 2022 “Caddie Confidential” series, with monthly, inside-the-ropes perspective from dozens of Tour caddies on rotating golf topics. In this edition, caddies share what major they look forward to the most.

Caddies at the highest level get to travel the world competing in the PGA Tour’s major championships — the Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and Open Championship.

All four tournaments are special in their own way, but every caddie has their favorite one.

In this March 2022 edition of Caddie Confidential, we polled two dozen caddies to hear which major they most look forward to.

The Masters was the clear favorite for many reasons.

“It’s the best tournament in the world,” one caddie said.

“The greatest course on earth,” another added.

However, there were still other majors that got some votes.

Here’s a look at the rest of the responses from our caddies, who we promised anonymity in an effort to get their most honest answers.

Which major do you most look forward to and why?

Check out this selection of responses from caddies:

The Masters. The tradition for me is highest at that major because I grew up enjoying watching that major more than the rest.

The Open. I really like links golf and the whole vibe over there.

The Masters. Because everything is first class.

The Open Championship. It’s just different.

Masters. Cuz it’s the best.

Masters… the history.

The Open Championship, aka British Open. Nothing better. Amazing golf courses, amazing crowds, amazing energy in the air. The ultimate test with the best stadium seating on the 18th hole in golf.

U.S. Open. There’s something very satisfying watching players (hopefully not your own) make an 8 or a 9. Huge mental grind.

The Masters. I grew up 2.5 hours from Augusta so it’s a very special place to me.

The Open Championship.

Masters cause it’s the Masters.

The Masters is the best by far. The caddie house is a fun place to hang.

Masters. Just a special place.

Masters because it’s the Super Bowl of golf.

Masters, hands down best treated and greatest course on earth.

The Open because of the great local people and quality golf that varies greatly with wind and weather.

Masters – we know the routine with travel and accommodations, it just doesn’t change so it’s nice to go back every year. The caddie staff at Augusta is the best and the treatment is first class! It also kicks off the golf year so everyone is excited and you never have to worry about “trying” to get someone tickets. Everyone knows the deal and doesn’t ask.

The Masters. Everyone in the field has earned their spot and it is close to my home!

The Open. It’s the way golf should be played — hard and fast!

Masters, one tournament that’s been played the same course every year.

The Masters. They take great care of us.

Open Championship, it’s a different style of golf, the people are great over there and the history of that event.
