Week 4: College football caddie picks with Paul Tesori, Matt Minister, Ryan Rue and Joe Skovron
Can you believe it’s already Week 4 of college football season?
Once again, Saturday is chockfull of compelling match ups.
RELATED: Week 3 NFL picks with caddie Joe Skovron
Caddies Paul Tesori, Matt Minister, Ryan Rue and – new this week – Joe Skovron have taken a look deep into the crystal ball. Here’s who they like this weekend…
Georgia (2) at Missouri
Spread: Georgia -14
Tesori’s Pick: Georgia
Why?: One of the best teams in college football. Hard to pick against them.
Minister’s Pick: Georgia
Why?: The Dawgs defense will shut the Tigers down.
Rue’s Pick: Georgia
Why?: The Dawgs are for real. Dawgs win big over Mizzou.
Skovron’s Pick: Missouri
Why?: Obviously Georgia is loaded, but the public is all over them, so I’m going Missouri. I haven’t watched either team this year, but this Missouri team is at home, undefeated and Lock has put up some huge numbers lately.
Notre Dame (8) at Wake Forest
Spread: Notre Dame -7.5
Tesori’s Pick: Notre Dame
Why?: I’m not convinced of the Demon Deacons legitimacy yet.
Minister’s Pick: Notre Dame
Why?: Notre Dame wears them down and wins by two scores.
Rue’s Pick: Notre Dame
Why?: I just don’t think the Demon Deacons can hang all four quarters with the Notre Dame. The Irish cover and win.
Skovron’s Pick: Notre Dame
Why?: I watched Notre Dame play Michigan and think they have a very good team. As long as Wimbush doesn’t turn the ball over too much they should cover.
Clemson (3) at Georgia Tech
Spread: Clemson -16.5
Tesori’s Pick: Georgia Tech
Why?: Tech is a pain. Simple as that. Clemson will win but not cover.
Minister’s Pick: Clemson
Why?: Clemson has too much power and will run the score up.
Rue’s Pick: Clemson
Why?: I think the Yellow Jackets will keep it close early, but Clemson pulls away and just squeaks by. Clemson covers barely.
Skovron’s Pick: Clemson
Why?: A lot of points on the road and that GT offense is a tough scheme to deal with, but the Clemson coaching staff has seen it enough and that D-line could be the best ever in college football with four projected to go in the first two rounds of the draft. I’ll take my chances with the Tigers covering.
Texas A&M (22) at Alabama (1)
Spread: Alabama -26.5
Tesori’s Pick: Texas A&M
Why?: Jimbo knows how to keep things close. 26.5 is just too many.
Minister’s Pick: Texas A&M
Why?: Texas A&M will give the Tide a game. They won’t win but will cover.
Rue’s Pick: Alabama
Why?: Seems like it doesn’t matter who they play. Bama wins big.
Skovron’s Pick: Texas A&M
Why?: Alabama is loaded and it’s at Bama, but 26.5 is a lot of points. I’m just trusting Jimbo to get his guys ready and not get blown out.
Stanford (7) at Oregon (20)
Spread: Stanford -1.5
Tesori’s Pick: Stanford
Why?: I’m going with the away team. I think Stanford is a one-loss team and this won’t be it.
Minister’s Pick: Stanford
Why?: Stanford in a close, tough game. They win by a field goal.
Rue’s Pick: Stanford
Why?: It’s always a big game out west. Stanford seems to keep rolling. I’m going with the Cardinals.
Skovron’s Pick: Oregon
Why?: The public is heavy on Stanford and moved this line so that always puts me on the other side. I know Stanford is well coached and a solid football team, but I’ve been to games at Autzen and it’s a tough place to play. Herbert is pretty highly touted as well, so I’m going Ducks.
