After a nearly six-year run highlighted by a victory in the 2016 Puerto Rico Open, The Caddie Network can confirm that Tony Finau has parted ways with caddie Greg Bodine.

Bodine had been on the bag for Finau since the 2014-15 PGA Tour season — Finau’s rookie year.

Finau has played in five events since the PGA Tour’s restart in June, making the cut in all but one. His eighth-place showing at the Memorial on Sunday was his best finish since a playoff loss to Webb Simpson back in February at the Waste Management Open.

Finau, the 17th-ranked player in the world, is currently No. 32 in the FedExCup standings. He finished the last two seasons at No. 7 and No. 6, respectively, in the final FedEx standings.

For this week’s 3M Open, Finau will have swing coach Boyd Summerhays carrying the bag.

  1. I’m goin with Tony! With Boyd on the bag there will be no 2nd thoughts! Once a Team always a team..Trust …Dream it, do it Big Tone ‘

  2. Wait it wasn’t the caddy Who hopped on the Tony Finau Bogey train every Saturday afternoon when he got near the lead. And finished Sundays off with a brilliant 78. Nice guy Tony blaming the caddy. Coach is behind it too.

  3. Tony is a Professional and He alone make’s Decision’s that will hopefully make his career better for his Family and Himself as he mature’s in the Rank’s as a Great Player.I met him when I was a Pga Tour Caddie,He is a Really Great Player and Person,Some Decision’s are hard to make,But have to be made if they feel it will Improve their career on The PGA Tour. Bagger Huff.

  4. Never understood why they seem to part with the caddy. The ultimate in my opinion was Jessica Korda who fires her caddy during mid-round. I’m sure there is a reason but I’ve never heard the details. In that case I’m sure there are two stories

  5. So what, it is none of anyones business what he does. Don’t you know the player never makes a mistake? It is the caddie or the green, rough, the fairway isn’t right for their game, or the club. But he felt it was time time to make a change, so be it.

  6. We all have a job to do. Hind sight is 20-20. When you look in the mirror, only one face appears. Time will tell. The answer will be sooner than soon. Prayer are for both.

  7. Every caddie knows you’re on the bag at the pro’s discretion and the ride could end at any time. Maybe Summerhays will be the Key move in a Finau win, who can say? Some pros don’t need much by way of emotional support on course (Tiger and Patrick Reed come to mind), but maybe Tony needs someone who’s part guru and Greg Bodine may not have those chops. I don’t know Greg enough to venture a guess, but I wish him well. He’ll be on someone’s bag before too long I think.

  8. player has the right to do whatever he wants when it comes to his caddie.
bodine is a big boy. he knows the drill. hope he catches on to another top player.
