Ted Scott to caddie for Scottie Scheffler in RSM Classic
There’s some caddie news this week that may be worth keeping an eye on heading into 2022.
Ted Scott, who spent 15 years on the bag of two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson before the pair parted ways at the end of September, is caddying for Scottie Scheffler at the RSM Classic, as reported by our John Rathouz in this week’s Caddie Line video.
Scheffler went 2-0-1 as a rookie on the U.S. Ryder Cup squad at Whistling Straits in September, helping the Americans to victory, highlighted by his singles triumph over world No. 1 Jon Rahm. Following a season in which he finished top 20 in each of the four majors, including no worse than T8 in three of the four (Masters, T18; PGA Championship, T8; U.S. Open, T7; Open Championship, T8) and making it to the Tour Championship, Scheffler stopped working with caddie Scott Mcguinness.
The CJ Cup @ Summit, where Scheffler finished T38, was his last event with Mcguinness.
Scheffler had Jordan Guilford (Beau Hossler’s longtime caddie) on the bag for a fourth-place finish at Mayakoba and a T2 last week in the Houston Open.
Scott last caddied for Canadian Adam Svensson at Mayakoba, where Svensson tied for 45th.
In just two full seasons on Tour, the 25-year-old Scheffler has finished fifth (2020) and 21st (2021) in the final FedExCup standings. A veteran caddie of Scott’s caliber could prove to be an incredible asset.
