PNC Championship to be extra special for Tiger Woods and Joe LaCava

This weekend’s PNC Championship – where 20 teams consisting of a major or Players champion teaming up with a family member in a scramble format over two days – was already going to be an early Christmas gift for golf fans.
It will be our first good look at 11-year-old Charlie Woods, a successful junior golfer, who will tee it up in the event for the first time alongside his 15-time major-winning dad, Tiger.
We learned late Wednesday afternoon that the event will also be an extra special one for Tiger’s longtime caddie, Joe LaCava.
That’s because Golf Digest reported LaCava’s son – Joe Jr. – will be caddying for the younger Woods for an ultimate father-son weekend.

“Tiger was kind enough to ask me to ask Joe to caddie for Charlie so we could have a father-son caddie duo and a father-son player duo,” the elder LaCava told Golf Digest.
“There is one fun nugget that Tiger mentioned to me a number of months ago when he was kind of debating whether or not they would play in the PNC this year,” Rob McNamara, VP of TGR Ventures, told Golf Digest. “He said, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun if I had Joe LaCava Jr. caddie for Charlie?’”
“It’s going to be a very fun family affair, very big father-son bonding experience week, and I think they’re all looking forward to it,” McNamara said.
The two-day event begins Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando.
