Lexi’s longtime caddie Benji Thompson moves to PGA Tour for full-time job with Kevin Chappell

You may have noticed today at the ANA Inspiration that Lexi Thompson has someone other than longtime caddie Benji Thompson caddying (no relation).
Lexi Thompson has John Killeen, a long-time caddie who has looped for Patty Sheehan, Meg Mallon, Ayako Okamoto and Cristie Kerr, on the bag at the ANA, where she opened with a 2-under 70.

Benji Thompson, meanwhile, is in Napa this week caddying for Kevin Chappell in the PGA Tour’s 2020-21 season-opening Safeway Open.
The Caddie Network reached Benji Thompson via text. He told us that Chappell reached out to him two weeks ago for a full-time job on the PGA Tour and he accepted.
Chappell, meanwhile, opened the Safeway Open with a 3-under 69.
Benji Thompson previously caddied on the PGA Tour for the likes of Ben Martin and Casey Wittenberg.
Seems like Lexi fought so hard to get him back on her bag in 2019. Any indication why (besides more money) he jumped so quickly at this chance to leave her for Chappell?
