Caddie Todd Montoya wins a house

Todd Montoya, caddie on the PGA Tour for Brian Stuard, had one heck of a week last week.
ESPN’s Michael Collins reports that Montoya was the winner of a raffle by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico and received a call while in Napa for the Safeway Open last week saying: 1. He won a $1,000 Visa gift card; and 2. He won a new house valued at $505,000.
As if that wasn’t enough, Stuard — with Montoya on the bag — finished T3 in the Safeway Open.
“We caddies do a bunch of charity stuff for St. Jude so I knew it was a great charity,” Montoya told ESPN. “Plus Brian and I had a pretty good year so I was feeling like I should share. I bought two $100 raffle tickets and did what everyone does … forgot about it.”
When Montoya got the call about his good fortune, he initially figured it was a scam and it took some convincing for him to believe what was going on.

The person who initially won the grand prize dream house didn’t meet the eligibility requirements, so a second raffle ticket was pulled and Montoya won.
Stuard had to pry, during his round, to find out what happened.
“Saturday we’re on the course and at one point I’m just looking at Brian,” Montoya said. “He goes, ‘What?’ I said, ‘I won a house.’ Brian couldn’t help but laugh, and I think it actually helped us.”
The grand prize — with Montoya’s name on it — was announced on Sept. 10.
