Caddie Line: Best Bets, Tips, Golf Gambling Predictions For LIV Golf Portland, John Deere

The Caddie Network’s John Rathouz has spent 16 years as a PGA Tour caddie. Now, he’s applying that golf insider knowledge to help you make picks each week with his best bets and predictions in The Caddie Line. This week, he has picks for LIV Golf Portland at Pumpkin Ridge. And Diane Knox Balas also joins to give golf gambling advice for the 2022 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

Why two pickers this week? Well, Rathouz will be under the strap for Stephan Jaeger this week at the John Deere Classic. So Caddie Network friend of the program Diane Knox Balas steps in to share her advice for golf gamblers this week. So who do Rathouz and Knox Balas like in Portland and Illinois? Complete golf gambling analysis in video above and here are a few highlights:

Golf Gambling: LIV Golf Portland

About the course: Pumpkin Ridge is a composite course with interesting hole layouts and not overly long. Poa annua grass will be the key.

Pat Perez (20-1) is a west coaster, comfortable on poa annua and will embrace the chaos expected around this week’s event.

Another strong pick is South African Hennie du Plessis (33-1). He finished second at LIV Golf London.

Strong sleeper: Eugenio Chacarra, the kid out of Oklahoma State, at whatever odds you can find him.

Bonus pick from Rathouz: Seamus Power (14-1) to win the Irish Open on the European Tour.

Golf Gambling: John Deere Classic

About the event: Expect low scoring and prioritize players with a high birdie average and ballstriking consistency.

Adam Hadwin (+1800) is the pick of the week. His putter is red hot and if it stays that way, he’ll be the one to watch.

Nick Hardy (+4500) is an Illinois native and is coming off a Top-15 finish at the U.S. Open and a Top 10 at Travelers.

And don’t ignore J.T. Poston (+5500) after his excellent second-place finish last week in Cromwell.
