Caddie Billy Foster On Matt Fitzpatrick’s Win At 2022 U.S. Open: ‘Massive Sigh Of Relief’

Matthew Fitzpatrick won the 2022 U.S. Open with caddie Billy Foster on the bag. The Caddie Network’s John Rathouz caught up with Foster to discuss the historic win at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass.

It was the first major win for Foster, who is a looping legend with 40 years experience and considered by many to be on the Mount Rushmore of caddies. In the quick 5-minute video, Foster calls the win “a massive sigh of relief after all the close misses and heartaches” and discusses:

  • Being back home in England and what the last 36 hours have been like
  • Where all of Foster’s emotion came from on the 18th hole at Brookline
  • The decision between driver and 3-wood off the tee on the final hole
  • How meaningful it’s been to hear from caddies, pros, celebrities post-win
