Tiger Woods was injured Tuesday morning in a single-car accident in Los Angeles County. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

“Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries,” his agent Mark Steinberg confirmed in a statement. “He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”

The L.A. Times is reporting that Woods’ injuries include a shattered ankle and two leg fractures, one of which was compound.
Woods, a 15-time major winner, hasn’t been in action since the PNC Championship with son Charlie in December and underwent a fifth back surgery following that tournament.

“On behalf of all the caddies in the APTC, our thoughts are with Tiger Woods,” said Scott Sajtinac, president of the Association of Professional Tour Caddies. “We wish him the best for a speedy recovery.”
Woods was in California this past weekend to host the Genesis Invitational at Riviera and was scheduled to spend Monday and Tuesday in LA for a two-day shoot with Golf Digest and GOLFTV.
In a press conference Tuesday evening, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said initial reports of the use of the jaws of life were inaccurate. Woods was extricated from the vehicle, but the jaws of life were not required.
When officers arrived at the scene of Woods’ accident, there was no evidence of impairment according to Alex Villanueva of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
The following statement was released by PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan:
“We have been made aware of Tiger Woods’ car accident today. We are awaiting further information when he comes out of surgery. On behalf of the PGA TOUR and our players, Tiger is in our prayers and will have our full support as he recovers.”
