A list of 42 players in the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series event was released Tuesday. And the golf world is buzzing.

What are PGA Tour caddies saying about LIV Golf and how it will affect players? The Caddie Network’s John Rathouz was on location at the Charles Schwab Challenge and spoke with several caddies about the hot-button topic.

In the following 50-second video, Rathouz explains why there could be animosity from Tour players toward the LIV Golf players. The issue revolves around a common problem: money.

“There’s going to be some animosity crop up from some guys on Tour that are either established players, or struggling, or have had nice careers but haven’t been paid,” Rathouz says. “All of a sudden this guy shows up who you’ve never heard of and he finishes fifth at a LIV golf event. And he cashes a check for $2 million. And you’re like, ‘What did he do to deserve or earn that money?’

“There’s going to be some hard feelings.”

Rathouz shared these thoughts from caddies in his latest Under The Strap podcast, which includes a chat with Justin Thomas caddie Jim “Bones” Mackay after their win at the PGA Championship. In the episode, Rathouz also recaps conversations he had with the caddies of Kevin Na, Max Homa, Abraham Ancer and several others.

The first LIV Golf event is June 9-11 at Centurion Golf Club in London.
