With a quarter of the NFL season behind us, teams are really beginning to take shape.

October is a big month for teams, where each win or loss can make or break the season.

Caddie Joe Skovron has been keeping a close eye on the NFL — especially his beloved LA Chargers.

Here, Skovron offers up his picks for five, key NFL games in Week 5.

Atlanta at Pittsburgh
Spread: Pittsburgh -3

Skovron’s Pick: Pittsburgh
Why: This one should be a shootout through the air. They both need a win bad. I think Pitt gets it done at home.

Jacksonville at Kansas City
Spread: Kansas City -1

Skovron’s Pick: Kansas City
Why: I really hope I’m wrong here. I think Jacksonville has one of the best rosters in the league and is a more complete team, but no Fournette and KC is rolling right now. This spread is up to 3 while I’m typing this, so I’ll take KC giving one at home.

Minnesota at Philadelphia
Spread: Philadelphia -3

Skovron’s Pick: Minnesota
Why: The Vikes need a win bad. I just think they are a better team than their record, so I’ll take the points. My confidence level isn’t very high in this one.

Oakland at LA Chargers
Spread: Chargers -5.5

Skovron’s Pick: Oakland
Why: I still think my Bolts get the ‘W’ but if you are a Chargers fan you have been stung a lot in these kinds of games. They usually keep them close with some kind of special teams mistake, or turnover at the wrong time. It doesn’t help that the defense has struggled to stop anyone with Bosa out. I hope I’m wrong and they cruise to an easy win.

Dallas at Houston
Spread: Houston -3.5

Skovron’s Pick: Dallas
Why: I haven’t watched either team play so I’m just taking the 3.5 on national TV.
