On Wednesday night at Medinah Country Club, caddie Joe LaCava will be inducted into the Caddie Hall of Fame, run by the Western Golf Association.
The 55-year-old LaCava has enjoyed an incredible career as a caddie, starting out first for his cousin, Ken Green, before moving on to a long run with Fred Couples that included a victory in the 1992 Masters.
After Couples moved on to the PGA Tour Champions and played less and less, LaCava went to work for Dustin Johnson, before moving over to Tiger Woods in 2011.
TCN EXCLUSIVE: Caddie Joe LaCava details aftermath of Tiger’s Masters win
LaCava stuck by Woods through several injuries and the waiting paid off this past April when Woods won the Masters – his 15th major title overall.
Afterward the Masters win, LaCava shared a personal text he received from Woods with The Caddie Network.
“Tiger did send a message that said, ‘We did it, appreciate you hanging in there with me, I love you like a brother,’” LaCava said. “And I sent one back very similar to that. Hopefully we’ll have a nice sit-down dinner and rehash everything at the next tournament and not necessarily celebrate it but enjoy it and reminisce a little bit.”
LaCava won’t be able to do too much celebrating Wednesday night following his Hall induction… he’ll be right back to work Thursday morning to caddie for Woods in the first round of the BMW Championship.
