Wondering what it’s like behind the scenes ahead of this week’s Open Championship?
Caddies Terry Walker (Andrew Landry) and Kip Henley (Austin Cook) are on the ground in Scotland reporting for The Caddie Network doing everything they can to capture the atmosphere for those of us who couldn’t make it over to the other side of the pond.
We’ll also have additional posts from other caddies’ social accounts. Check back frequently for updates.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2018:
We learned earlier this week that Kip might not be the best when it comes to driving on the other side of the rode, on the wrong side of the car with a stick-shift. Evidently, his family saw that video. This is what happened when Kip picked them up at a train station near Carnoustie.
“Sit down, buckle up, shut up and hang on.” — @KipHenley to his praying family as he collects them from a train station near Carnoustie. Kip tells us, “They fought for the backseat.” #TheOpen pic.twitter.com/oqOFlXJ7lU

All the talk at Carnoustie this week is about how rock-hard the course is. In fact, players have said the fairways are running faster than the greens. Kip gave us an up-close look at just how hard that ground is as his guy Austin Cook was getting in some short-game work.

Kip also caught the “eye in the sky” — a camera that hovers over the driving range for television coverage — zeroing in on one particular player.

We love these Instagram posts by Kevin Na’s caddie Kenny Harms, too (kharms27).

In this installment, Terry takes you on a walk behind the 18th green at Carnoustie with a look at the hotel, the clubhouse, caddie room and on a cart ride over to the range where you get sense for what it’s like to explore that stroll.

Kip is trying to navigate his way through Scotland and it looks dangerous.

Here’s a look at what it was like for Terry and Kip to be on the chartered jet from the John Deere Classic to the Open Championship on Sunday night. As Terry notes, the jet actually belongs to Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
Terry also snapped a few behind the scenes photos for us at the private gate for players and caddies before the flight took off…
