Through our readers and social media followers here at The Caddie Network, we often receive questions related to the caddie profession. We’ve collected the most frequently asked questions from our readers and followers and tasked actual PGA Tour caddies to serve up the answers based on their experiences. Here are the answers — from PGA Tour caddies — to the questions we most often receive from you.
If you watch enough professional golf, you quickly notice that the pros change out their golf balls often. A string of pars? Maybe a change of golf balls to see if the new one has a birdie or better in it? A bogey or worse? Absolutely get rid of that rock. But when should the rest of us be changing golf balls over the course of a round? We served that question up to a veteran PGA Tour caddie.
How often should you change your golf ball?
As for when to change the golf ball, all players are a little different. Anytime the ball is damaged for sure though. Many players are superstitious and change after bogeys or birdies for whatever reason they may have.
For the casual golfer out there, I’d suggest keeping your golf ball in play until there’s some noticeable damage. For most of the world, golf balls aren’t waiting in your locker like they are on the PGA Tour! Get your money’s worth.
