One of the most famous female caddies of all time was brought out of “retirement” this week.
Fanny Sunesson rose to fame caddying for Nick Faldo but after hanging up the full-time bib she also famously coached Martin Kaymer and Henrik Stenson to huge success.
I asked Adam Scott, “When did you call Fanny?”
“Oh, a couple weeks ago. It’s great to have her on the bag.”
When Fanny walked into the caddie area, after a big hug I said, “Congrats on getting back on the bag! You missed it didn’t you?!”
“Thanks, and no, I didn’t miss it,” she replied, smiling.
“You mean you didn’t know you missed it until you were back carrying the bag again!?”
“So, what made you decide come back to caddie again?”
She looked at me like DUH!: “Two things. Adam Scott and The Open. I mean, it’s Adam Scott! I always wanted to caddie for him. (Almost teasing) He’s Adam Scott! And who wouldn’t want to caddie The Open? I mean… The Open at Carnoustie.”
Fanny looks at me with the c’mon man face.
Well it’s good to have you back Fanny, even if only temporarily.
