Caddie Line: 2022 PGA Championship Best Bets, Tips, Predictions

John Rathouz spent 16 years as a PGA Tour caddie. Now, he’s applying that golf insider knowledge to help you make golf gambling predictions each week with his best bets and picks in The Caddie Line. This week, the 2022 PGA Championship is at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Okla.

The season’s second major takes place at Scottie Scheffler’s favorite course in the world. Southern Hills is a Perry Maxwell design, recently renovated by Gil Hanse, and features a meandering creek, elevation changes and small greens. Who does Rathouz like to win the PGA Championship? Complete golf gambling analysis in video above and here are a few highlights:

First-Round Leader

Veteran PGA Tour member Matt Kuchar is going off at 100-1. Because of that big number, Kuchar is a strong value bet to be atop the 2022 PGA Championship leaderboard after Thursday’s first round.

Ride The Hot Player

Justin Thomas (14-1) has the pedigree as a past PGA champion. Plus, his irons are on fire of late and he’s a good bentgrass putter. Don’t forget: his caddie Bones Mackay has three solid finishes at Southern Hills previously with Phil Mickelson.

Favorite Bet Of The Week

Patrick Cantlay (22-1). A popular pick—shoutout to The Caddie Network’s Brian Mull—and he comes in playing well, having won the Zurich a few weeks back with his buddy Xander Schauffele. Secret weapon: Cantlay’s golf instructor is the 2021 PGA National teacher of the year, Jamie Mulligan.

Golf Gambling: Three More To Watch

Xander Schauffele (25-1) will be motivated to win his first major at the 2022 PGA Championship.

Lots of value with Hideki Matsuyama (33-1), who has a win this season and a major (at Augusta) 13 months ago.

Shane Lowry (35-1) is great with his 60-degree wedge, and he’ll be able to use it all over the course this week.
